A-levels (or equivalent)
A-levels in three subjects, or an equivalent completed secondary education. No minimum grade — and you may apply before finishing.

Native speakers and English-schooled applicants are exempt. Otherwise: FCE, IELTS 6, TOEFL 87, PTE 59 — or sit UPOL's own English test.

What the Studies Look Like

🩺 General Medicine (6 yrs)
The first two years are mostly theory — anatomy, biology, biochemistry, biophysics, histology and physiology. Pre-clinical subjects (pathology, microbiology, pharmacology) follow, then the clinical years. Czech-language classes are compulsory in years 1–3 so you can communicate with patients and staff. The whole sixth year is bedside training, ending with State Exams in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Preventive Medicine.
🦷 Dentistry (5 yrs)
Split into theory (anatomy, physiology, histology, chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics), pre-clinical/clinical subjects, and a strong focus on special fields — preventive dentistry, prosthetics, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics and oral surgery. A large part is hands-on practical training, concluding with State Exams in Prosthodontics & Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and Operative Dentistry.
Graduates are fully competitive physicians and dentists who score well on the USMLE and work worldwide — from the USA to Japan — and can continue into Ph.D. programmes. The General Medicine programme is AMSE-accredited and recognised in the USA, Canada and beyond.

Housing is guaranteed

International students are guaranteed a place in one of the university's seven halls of residence for the entire course. Rooms come furnished (desk, bed, closet); two students typically share a room, with shared bathrooms, kitchens, internet and recreation areas. University housing isn't available for students with families.
