NCU has taught medicine in English in Bydgoszcz since 2009, with about 400 full-time international students from over 30 countries and clinical training across the Jurasz and Biziel university hospitals.
NCU sets no grade thresholds. Your diploma needs Biology plus Chemistry or Physics, and the entrance exam does the rest. For students whose school results closed doors elsewhere, this reopens them.
About €7,350 a semester, roughly €14,700 a year, binding for the total duration of your studies under the Rector's order. You will know your six-year cost on the day you enrol.

Toruń, Gdańsk, Poznań and Warsaw are all easy, and Gdańsk at 1h25 doubles as your airport for Scandinavia.
Polish cooking is built on potatoes, pork, cabbage, mushrooms, beetroot and sour cream. The ones worth knowing: pierogi, żurek (sour rye soup with sausage and egg), bigos, gołąbki, kotlet schabowy, barszcz, placki ziemniaczane and the student staple zapiekanka.
Day to day you will live on Biedronka and Lidl. Cooking runs about €185–280 a month, a cheap lunch is €6–9, a kebab €5–8, a casual restaurant main €8–14. Coffee is around €3.30 and a pub beer €3–4 — which, if you are coming from Oslo, will feel like a clerical error.
For Muslim students, be realistic: Bydgoszcz has an active Friday prayer community but no purpose-built mosque, and halal groceries come from a small number of known shops. It is entirely workable for six years, but you will plan around two or three trusted sources rather than choosing between six halal butchers. ⛔ Never assume an Indian or kebab restaurant is halal here — several serve pork.
Poland is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic and Bydgoszcz has the architecture to match — the cathedral of St Martin and St Nicholas on Farna, the domed Basilica of St Vincent de Paul, and parish churches on most main streets.
Outside Catholicism the communities are smaller, so here is the honest picture for each.
University dorm rooms start around €115–150 a month, with the modern en-suite rooms in Student House No. 3 costing more. A private room in a shared flat runs €210–350 and a small studio €395–580. ⚠️ Always ask whether the advertised rent includes czynsz, heating and electricity — a flat advertised at €465 often is not.
Realistic monthly totals: €430–535 in a dorm living frugally, €700–860 sharing privately, €1,100–1,395 living alone comfortably. The 30-day student transport pass is about €13 — effectively a rounding error.
⚠️ The honest weakness is the airport. Bydgoszcz flies direct to London Stansted, London Luton, Birmingham, Bristol, Dublin, Warsaw and Frankfurt — excellent for British and Irish students, but there is no direct Oslo, Istanbul or Dubai route. Norwegians take the fast train to Gdańsk in about 1h25 and fly from there, or connect through Warsaw. Poznań is 1h20 by rail. Emergency numbers are 112, 999 ambulance, 997 police, 998 fire.
