The UAE reality

Studying medicine at home is a privilege few can afford.

For most families in the UAE, the local road to medicine is either closed or costs as much as a house. The numbers explain why so many students look at Europe.

AED 960 000

Approximate total tuition for a 6-year MD in Dubai, per published university fee listings.

AED 160,000 per year
AED 330 000

Access

Local seats are limited

The UAE's public medical school admits UAE nationals and children of Emirati mothers. Private options exist, but fees run to AED 150,000 a year and beyond, and competition is fierce.

Cost

Home is the expensive option

Between tuition and Dubai living costs, studying at home often costs more than moving abroad. In Central Europe both tuition and rent are a fraction of UAE prices, with no compromise on the degree.

Recognition

The degree must travel

A medical degree only makes sense if it works in the UAE and beyond. Some agencies push cheap destinations outside the EU where recognition gets complicated. All our partners are public EU universities in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

How it works

Three steps from Dubai to med school.

No years of waiting lists, no entrance seasons that closed a year ago. Universities in Europe admit on one entrance exam, and sittings run through spring and summer.

01
Step 1

Your high school diploma

A completed secondary education with biology and chemistry, whether CBSE, A-levels, IB or the UAE curriculum. No NEET, no UCAT, no separate foundation year.

02
Step 2

Pass the entrance exam

A multiple-choice test in biology and chemistry, in English, at high school level. We prepare you for free with digital flashcards and a full 200-question mock exam. Some exams can even be taken online from home.

03
Step 3

Apply and fly

We handle the entire application, documents and university contact. Get your grade twelve results in June, sit an exam in summer, and land in Europe for a September start.

Our partner universities

Four public EU universities. One free application.

We work directly with established public universities teaching medicine and dentistry fully in English. Tuition at UPJŠ, UPOL and UMCH is locked when you enrol and does not rise during your degree.

Fees shown are official 2026/27 listings. UAE fee comparisons are approximate, per published university fee listings. Tuition at UPJŠ, UPOL and UMCH stays fixed for your whole course.

Will it work back home?

Recognised in the UAE, and far beyond.

UAE licensing

DHA, DOH and MOHAP

UAE regulators require a degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, a completed internship and a Prometric licensing exam. All four partner universities are listed public EU institutions, so your education meets the foundation the UAE requires. Licensing itself always involves the exam and experience steps.

Worldwide

USMLE, GMC and the EU

Graduates are eligible to pursue ECFMG certification for the USMLE in the United States, GMC registration in the UK via the PLAB route, and automatic recognition across the EU and EEA under Directive 2005/36. One degree, many doors.

For Indian families

An honest NMC note

If practising in India might ever be the plan, NMC rules apply: NEET must be passed before enrolling abroad and specific internship rules follow graduation. Talk to us first and we will walk you through what that means honestly, before you commit to anything.

Licensing rules are set by each regulator and change over time. We help you understand the current pathway, but always verify with DHA, DOH, MOHAP or the relevant authority before making career decisions.

Why Medently

Agencies in Dubai charge fees. We charge nothing.

Study-abroad consultancies typically charge placement fees, then quote inflated tuition on top. Medently is free, quotes only official university fees, and our own team studies at these universities right now.

The whole application

Documents, attestation guidance, deadlines and university contact, all handled and tracked in your own student portal.

Free exam prep

Digital biology and chemistry flashcards plus a timed 200-question mock exam in the real format. Others sell prep courses; ours is included.

Real fee transparency

We publish the universities' official tuition, not marked-up agency numbers. What the university charges is what you pay.

Housing and arrival

Help with accommodation, insurance and settling in, so the move from the UAE feels planned, not chaotic.

WhatsApp, family included

Parents ask us questions directly. Fast answers from people who actually study at these universities.

Community that gets it

We connect you with the international and Muslim student communities in each city before you even land.

AED 0 in agency fees. The universities pay us, not you.

You pay only the university's own tuition. No placement fee, no prep-course upsell, no hidden charges at any step.

Common questions

What UAE families ask us.

Is a European MD the same as an MBBS?
Yes, in practice. Our partner universities award the MD degree (MUDr. or Dr. med.) after six years of study, the same primary medical qualification an MBBS represents. Regulators in the UAE and worldwide treat World Directory listed MD and MBBS degrees the same way when you apply for licensing.
Is a European medical degree valid in the UAE?
Degrees from our partner universities come from public EU institutions listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, which is the educational foundation DHA, DOH and MOHAP require. To practise in the UAE you then complete the internship and Prometric exam steps like every licensed doctor. We explain the full pathway before you apply.
Do I need NEET or UCAT to get in?
The universities themselves require neither. Admission is by their own entrance exam in biology and chemistry. One honest exception: Indian passport holders who may ever want to practise in India need NEET under NMC rules before enrolling abroad. Ask us and we will map your situation.
What does it really cost compared to Dubai?
Medicine starts at €12,500 a year at UPOL and €13,000 at UPJŠ, roughly AED 53,000 to 55,000. Published fees for medicine in the UAE run around AED 150,000 to 160,000 a year. Living costs in Košice or Olomouc are €500 to 700 a month, far below Dubai.
Is the teaching really in English?
Yes, the full programme is taught in English from day one. You pick up some local language during the clinical years for patient contact, with courses included in the curriculum.
Can I do USMLE or work in the UK afterwards?
Yes. Graduates of World Directory listed schools are eligible to pursue ECFMG certification and the USMLE, and the UK's PLAB route to GMC registration is open. Inside the EU, the degree is automatically recognised.
What about halal food and prayer?
Hamburg and Riga have established mosques and halal dining. Olomouc has a central prayer room whose community is largely English-speaking medical students. Košice is smaller, with an informal Muslim student community and easy halal cooking at home. We tell you honestly what each city is like.
My results come in June. Have I missed the year?
No. Entrance exams run through spring and summer, and you typically register about a week before a sitting. June results, summer exam, September start is a normal timeline for our students.
We're expats in the UAE. How does the student visa work?
Your passport nationality, not your UAE residence, determines the process. You apply for a student visa or residence permit of the university's country, from the UAE, once you're admitted. We prepare the document checklist with you and walk you through each step, and thousands of international students do this every year.
Can my child do rotations or the internship in the UAE?
Clinical training is built into the degree at the university's own teaching hospitals, which is what keeps the qualification strong. Summer placements and electives elsewhere are often possible depending on the university's rules. Ask us about the options at your chosen university and we'll give you the honest picture.
Can my parents talk to you?
Of course. Most families do. We answer parent questions on WhatsApp directly, from safety and housing to fees and recognition, and we are happy to do a call together.
Is Medently really free?
Completely. The universities pay us when a student we helped enrols, so we never charge you for placement, exam prep or advice. You pay only the university's own tuition.

Same white coat.
A smarter price tag.

Tell us your curriculum and your grades, and we'll show you exactly what your options in Europe cost and where they lead. Free, no strings.
