The university
Can you actually get in

What each university asks of you, in your own school system.

The honest answer to can I get in depends less on how good your grades are than on which door you knock at. Some of these universities never look at your grades at all. Pick where you went to school and the table rewrites itself.

UniversityWhat your documents need to showWhat decides it
UPJŠ Košice🇸🇰 Košice, SlovakiaThe university

Any school leaving certificate that lets you start university at home. No subject minimums, no grade minimums.

English: No English certificate and no interview. The paper is written in English.

An online exam in biology, chemistry and general knowledge, then a short interview. You need fifty percent, and you get up to three attempts.

RSU Riga🇱🇻 Riga, LatviaThe university

Named subjects, not your average: Biology or Chemistry, English and Mathematics. RSU converts your grades using the top grade in your own country.

English: One of only two universities on this page where your school English grade can stand in for IELTS or TOEFL.

Grade 4 is the written minimum, a 5 is safe

No entrance exam and no interview. A committee reads your subject grades, RSU's own motivation form and two references.

NCU Bydgoszcz🇵🇱 Bydgoszcz, PolandThe university

Your school grades score no points. Your certificate has to qualify you for university at home and list Biology plus Chemistry or Physics.

English: Norwegian applicants are not asked for an English certificate — your English is checked inside the exam itself.

UNIC Nicosia🇨🇾 Nicosia, CyprusThe university

No entrance exam. Your grades and one recorded online interview decide it, and admission stays open until the places fill.

Tuition, living, and the whole degree end to end. At UPJŠ, UPOL, UMCH and NCU your rate is fixed from the day you enrol and does not rise while you study. What you pay Medently is the same at every one of them.

Living costs are an estimate from students who are there now, not a quoted price. Tuition figures are the official listings for the coming academic year; UMCH is the one university priced by where you are from.

What Medently costs

Agencies charge thousands. You never pay us.

Placement agencies across Europe charge somewhere between two and five thousand for the same journey, and then charge again for exam preparation. You never pay Medently anything, at any point, and the preparation is included. More than four hundred students have been guided through this by people who are studying at these universities right now.

How it actually works

Three steps, and none of them is a personal statement.

This is the whole route, from the day you decide to the day you land. Most of it happens between us and the university, not between you and a portal.

01

Your documents

Your school leaving certificate, a medical certificate and an apostille. We tell you exactly which pages each university wants, get the translations done and send them. Nothing is decided on a predicted grade.

02

The exam, or not

Four of these universities decide on one entrance exam in biology and chemistry, at roughly school leaving standard, in English. Two of them never set an exam at all and read your documents instead. We prepare you for the exam for free with flashcards and a full mock in the real format.

Your seat, and the flight

The entrance exams

One test in biology and chemistry. That is the whole gate.

Where there is an exam it is a multiple-choice paper at school leaving standard, written in English, and it is the only thing that ranks you. There is no UCAT, no BMAT, no personal statement and no reference letter. We give you the preparation free, because agencies charging for it is the part of this industry we like least.

The real question banks, as flashcards, free.

Roughly 600 biology and 600 chemistry questions with a spaced repetition scheduler, plus a full timed mock in the exam format.

Coming home

A degree that travels back with you.

Every university on this page is EU-accredited and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. What happens next depends on where you want to practise, so here it is by country.

🇪🇺 Across the EU and EEA

Your degree is recognised automatically under EU Directive 2005/36/EC, so you can apply for a licence in any member state without sitting a conversion exam.

🇳🇴 Norway

You apply to Helsedirektoratet for autorisasjon and then take the same LIS1 route as any other doctor. Hundreds of Norwegian doctors qualified exactly this way.

How autorisasjon and LIS1 work

🇬🇧 The United Kingdom

Every one of these universities is in the World Directory of Medical Schools, which is what the GMC checks first. Registration rules are set by the GMC and do change, so read their current guidance at gmc-uk.org before you commit — we will not sell you a guarantee on someone else's rulebook.

🇺🇸 The United States and Canada

WDOMS listing is what makes graduates eligible to sit the USMLE and pursue licensure in the US and Canada.

What you pay Medently, from the first question to your first lecture.

Asked every week

What people actually ask.

Can I really study medicine in Europe entirely in English?

Yes. All six universities on this page run the entire six-year programme in English, from the first anatomy lecture to the final state exams. You pick up the local language for talking to patients on the ward, and the universities teach it as a subject, but no part of your degree is assessed in it.

Do I need the UCAT, the BMAT or a numerus clausus place?

No. None of these universities uses the UCAT or the BMAT, and none of them takes part in a national ranking system. Four of them set their own entrance exam in biology and chemistry. Two of them set no exam at all and decide on your school documents.

What grades do I actually need?

At UPJŠ, UPOL and UMCH there is no grade minimum whatsoever — the exam decides everything. At NCU your certificate simply has to list biology plus chemistry or physics, with no minimum in either. RSU scores named subjects rather than your average. UNIC is the only one on this page where your overall average has to clear a bar. Use the checker on this page to see which of those you already clear.

How much does the whole degree cost?

Tuition runs from €12,500 a year at UPOL to €34,800 at UMCH for students from outside the EU, with most of the list sitting between €13,000 and €15,000. Living costs about €500 to €800 a month in Košice, Olomouc, Riga and Bydgoszcz, and more in Hamburg and Nicosia. At UPJŠ, UPOL, UMCH and NCU your rate is fixed from the day you enrol.

Can I apply to more than one university at the same time?

Yes, and you should. There is no four-choice limit and no clearing. We file every application in your shortlist in the same cycle, and applying to a second or third university costs you nothing extra.

How hard is the entrance exam, and how do I prepare?

It is a multiple-choice paper at roughly school leaving standard, and the question banks are published. We give you the real questions as flashcards and a full timed mock in the exam format, free. Most people who fail it did not prepare, rather than could not do it.

Can I still start this academic year?

Often yes. Entrance exams run through the spring and summer and into September at several of these universities, and RSU runs a February intake as well, so a rejection at home in the spring does not have to cost you a year. Tell us your situation and we will tell you honestly what is still reachable.

Is the degree recognised where I want to work?

Inside the EU and EEA, automatically, under Directive 2005/36/EC. In Norway you apply to Helsedirektoratet for autorisasjon and then do LIS1 like anyone else. For the UK and for countries outside Europe, the regulators set the rules and they change, so we point you at the current guidance rather than promise you an outcome.

What does Medently cost?

You never pay us. Not for the application, not for the flashcards, not for the mock exam, not for help finding a flat. There is no registration fee and no success fee.

I have already started medicine somewhere else. Is that useful?

It can be. Transfers into the second year and beyond happen every year, usually on the strength of the subjects you have already passed. It is decided case by case, so send us your transcript and we will tell you what it is worth.

Tell us your grades. We will tell you the truth.

Not a sales call. You send us what you actually have, and we tell you which of these universities you would clear, which you would not, and what to do about it.
